Merry Christmas

Tonight Benno and I will be celebrating Christmas Eve as it is “Heiliger Abend” called in Germany and a tradition we grew up with. A festive or special dinner will be cooked on Christmas day and for that occasion I purchased a small Turkey breast. However, the Furrion oven in our travel trailer is not very spacious. I don’t know what the designer had been thinking what people will be cooking in it with a clearance of 3-1/2 inches from tray to top. So maybe Benno has to help me flattening the roast or slap it to make it fit and I know he brought some tools with him ;-) (maybe put it in a shop-vise and squeeze it) How does this sound? Well, my table top toaster oven has to come to the rescue thanks to Walmart where I purchased it. I may be posting a photo of the outcome, so wish me luck.

The Furrion didn't hack it

Yay to the Oster toaster oven

In the hope that all our family, friends and blog readers will have a joyful holiday time to spend with loved ones, we are wishing you a Merry Christmas!

  2. Merry Christmas! What were they thinking, you could maybe do grilled cheese sandwiches in that oven! I love the picture of your lights over the slide.

    1. Merry Christmas to you too. I'm convinced it was a guy that designed that oven. Yep, pizza and grilled cheese sandwiches!

    1. Thank you. Toaster ovens are great and I have another one at home, although more sophisticated than this one. Btw, maybe leave a name so I know who you are :-)

  4. Looks like you got a handle on the turkey situation with the toaster oven. I've seen some posts from ppl using a crock pot for their turkey breast and wondered how that would do. Thank goodness for colored lights - they makes things so festive. Merry Christmas to you both, hugs.

    1. Thank you both. Perhaps a crook pot could work but I don't know how you'd get a crusty skin. Some people did really nice decorations here for the occasion.

  5. Interesting oven shelf space. Someone who has never cooked obviously built that. Tom and I are wishing you both a Wonderful New Year!

    1. Wishing you a Happy New Year! As to the oven, why even build that?

  6. Those camper ovens are practically worthless, except for storage. Hope everything turned out great and you had a great Christmas and New Year's!

    1. Everything was great. Yes, the oven doesn't even count on storage.
