Wednesday morning turned out to be a bit overcast when we got up. By the time we were done with our morning routine and breakfast the sun was out and temps were predicted to be in the upper 20ths Celsius. There is very little humidity here and the ocean breeze providing a cooling effect is just lovely, so we were planning another outing.
We grabbed the dogs and we all piled into the truck to head out of the campground in direction of St. Andrews. The town of St. Andrews is only 10km/6miles from the campground. It is a national historic site of Canada with a lovely town center. It is also a seaside resort and flocked by tourists. At the city dock there are tourist boats tied up offering whale-sighting tours and while we were at the boardwalk, a busload of people was streaming down the pier towards the waiting boats.
I am sure the shop owners and restaurateurs are happy that tourists are allowed to come into the province again. Throughout the village we saw hand-sanitizing stations at street posts (never have seen this anywhere else) and there were provisions made for outside dining at bakeries and restaurants that did not have any before the Covid-19 situation started. Also a cute gesture was the dog station in front of one shop and we made quick use of it for the photo op. A section of the downtown was made into a one-way road. There were boutiques, unique gift shops, cafes and restaurants that lined the street. This town is truly a gem.
A bit further down was a city park next to the historic blockhouse with a couple of canons pointing towards the sea where we posed for more photos. Although my photos have a high resolution, by the time they are reduced to 800 pixels to make it into the blog, the sharpness has disappeared but I hope you can still see the beauty of the scenery.
In the afternoon we were able to relocate our travel trailer to a nicer spot further down the campground and away from the swimming pools ;-)
Thanks for dropping in again. Stay tuned for my next update…
So glad to see open businesses again. LOVE the doggie stop. Your pictures are beautiful. I imagine even more fabulous in person. Definitely better AWAY from noisy swimming pools!!
ReplyDeleteBusinesses need now all the shoppers they can get. The doggie stop was a nice gesture. We'll be driving through NB again perhaps on the way to Nova Scotia and there are so many nice places in the world!
DeleteI have the same issues with the resolution of the pictures on our blog. I reduce them to a resolution that loads them quickly as the reader does not want to be sitting there for any length of time waiting for pictures to load.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could find a way to publish some of my photos in its original form. Maybe some reader will give me a pointer?
DeleteYour pictures still give a glowing idea of the beauty that surrounds you. Love strolling through those kinds of shops. It looks like we'll be seeing the Covid changes for a lot longer then most would like.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Thanks I hoped to capture some of the wonderful views I had and to share. Little towns with their unique shops are fun to visit for sure. Hopefully this Covid thing will eventually end.
DeleteWhat a cool little town! Sometimes you've just got to check out a touristy town, like St. Augustine, FL. This one looks prettier and much more manageable. According to the map it's beautifully situated by the water. Nice spot for your rig too. Have a great time.
ReplyDeleteAlthough there were tourists around, there was enough little town atmosphere and it wasn't too kitschy. I wish I could post the map with high resolution to show the details.
DeleteMore fun times! Love that Doggie Stop, smart idea. So many rv'ers/visitors have dogs now.
ReplyDeleteI noticed McGuire's Chocoates in one of your pictures, did you stop? 😍
Lovely picture of you on the rocks.
The RV park sure had lots of dogs! St. Stephen is Canada's chocolate town. Wait for my next update!
DeleteGood for the town for creating those sanitizing stations. Such a lovely area to explore.
