THIS WAS OUR 2013 JAYCO FLIGHT SWIFT 198RD, PARKED AT THE TOMBSTONE TERRITORIES RV PARK IN ARIZONA

One week has gone by in a flash

Its unbelievable to me that today we are already a week in this RV Park. Talk about time flying by and having a good time. But of course we were busy with daily trips into Bushnell and Leesburg for small purchases. One item we bought was a leaf rake that can be taken apart for storage. It would not have occurred to me to bring garden tools, but there is a Sweet Gum Tree standing next to our travel trailer that in addition of shedding brown leafs had also been dropping lots of round, prickly seed capsules all over the ground. We raked them up and the groundkeeper took them away for disposal. Just imagine me sitting under the tree and being bombarded with some prickly balls and then they sticking to my hair. I’d have to cut this tangle mess off. This tree is a nuisance for sure although it looks nice and provides shade on hot days. We would prefer to park on an open field with only grassy grounds without shade, but I believe those have all been taken.

Our nice and friendly next-door neighbor lent us his leaf blower so Benno could clear the roof of the RV and blow any debris from under the solar panels off that the broom would not reach. Well, it’s the first time we are staying in this park and most folks around us have come here for a long time as well as some that stay year round.

We learned that the park’s previous owner passed away and his son has recently taken over, so there are changes going on. One of them is an additional dog park adjacent to the already spacious one that our two dogs have been enjoying. The fence is already up and it will be operational in the next few days, so I will try to take a photo. The combined grounds for the dogs are as large as a football field with neatly cut grass. Reggy and Elsa loved the freedom of running to their little hearts contents.

On the next lane over from ours there is an inflatable large dachshund as a Christmas decoration next to a diesel pusher. Those folk’s also own four little dachshunds and I will take a photo of them the next time they are outside in their enclosure. They are very cute little rascals!

I noticed that every afternoon three Sandhill Cranes stride quietly by our site. I presume they are looking for handouts and don’t seem to be very shy. Perhaps I can find some seeds at the Rural King store to feed to them. It would make for a good photo opportunity.

At the community hall there is a sign out front advertising every day of planned activities, as is the case in most RV Parks, I think. Also we were given a sheet of activities for this month that has everything from line dancing to movie nights. Next to the building is a smaller building with new exercise equipment in it that looks inviting. It is new and the park owner is waiting for the consent of the Insurance Company so we all can use it.

Benno and I enjoyed this afternoon the free Ice Cream with a bunch of same-minded folks here in the park and we got to learn the first names of the people on our table. I hope we’ll remember them all.

Thanks for dropping in again.

  1. When you first stated that owner died and his son took over, I was expecting nothing but negative changes. So happy to hear that he is doing a good job and improving the place!

    1. I'm not sure the ice cream is free every week but it was last Sunday. Heard doughnuts and coffee are occasionally free too.

  3. A messy tree can be a problem, but easier to rake up then a foot of snow is to clear off driveways etc. Glad the dogs have a big run to enjoy. Free ice cream, what a great way to meet neighbors.

    1. Yes to all above. Most people I talked to just love it here and have come for many years.

  4. Sounds like you found a nice park. Those "sticky seeds" do not sound like a lot of fun but better then snow. Catching up it sounds like for the most part you had a smooth ride down to Florida. I swear it never fails we decide to leave something behind in the storage unit and it is what we need to repair this or that. Looks like your puppies will have a nice area to enjoy. Enjoy your time in the warmth.

    1. Yep, we always forget something too. Would you believe it, we forgot to bring the lawn chairs? I thought the basement looked different and neither one of us noticed, go figure.

  5. Wow ... great park with lots to do. I have those same sticky things from my sycamore trees ... maybe they are the same thing? LOVE seeing the Sandhills. And what a nice huge dog park! Your kids look happy!

    1. Yes, the dog park is humangous now. Lots of things to do if you like to participate. We'll see if we can get off the couch. ;-)

  6. It looks like a great place. Too bad about the tree droppings at your site.
Nice big doggie park. Gibbs doesn't ruin unless they're is someone to play with. His size.
My sister has sandhill cranes at their Florida park too. Very cool!

    1. The thing with the tree is so I don't get off my routine with garden work this winter :-) Well, it won't kill me to do a little raking and Benno to use the leaf blower we just purchased.
